SparticusR SpartacusR.
When The Fever Takes Hold.

Wellington six-piece psychedelic psychonauts Spartacus R have just released their long-awaited album When the Fever Takes Hold. Spartacus R have developed an enigmatic profile in their hometown through their groundbreaking productions for the New Zealand Fringe Festival, Spartacus R in Octophonic (Fringe 07) and Spartacus R's Delusions (Fringe 08) which featured a live audio-visual extravaganza set to original 3D film vignettes and showcased on TVNZ's One News.
Recorded at Wellington's legendary The Surgery with the production wizardry of Dr Lee Prebble (Phoenix Foundation, The Black Seeds, TrinityRoots), it features eight tracks – some of which are long psychedelic rock jams to immerse the listener in an aural experience not delivered by any other New Zealand band. That quest for an original listening experience has seen Spartacus R develop a head-spinning live act. Based on a foundation of blues, rock and funk, Spartacus R break loose on stage with sprawling soundscapes that explores as much as it entertains.

Masef Masef.
Music & Soul.

Joe Amstad is the mastermind behind this four piece band and is the songwriter that leads this talented group of musicians playing a fusion of reggae tinged with funk, rock, soul and hip hop vocals. The music is original and written so we can all relate to the stories. George Westrupp lays the foundations with drums. Helen Carter plays saxophone, Camina Chin lays the fat, funky bass lines, and Joe plays the guitar skank licks and provides the lead vocals. Real Love is their signature track and you can't help but want to move to this. "Masef stand for 'Music and Soul equals Freedom'. It's not a reggae album but an organic fusion of the bands musical influences arriving ready for summer. An essential purchase to add to your Kiwi collection" Rob McGreggor, Wanaka Sun, December 2007.

Desert Road Desert Road Band
Drink Us Pretty
Formed in Wellington NZ in 1993 Desert Road Band Started life as a songwriting Duo Andy Maggot McGee and Gordon Spike Barrell , 2 greasy mechanics from the wasteland of Palmerston North ( voted most boring town in the world recently ). The city is famed for its student drunkeness and high population of panelbeaters. Anyway enough of that. Due to extreme nepotism ,we where offered a spot at the inaugural Mountain Rock Festival, and a full band line up, ( Including the extremely talented Darren Watson think he might be on this sight somewhere ?, check his work out ) was hastily put together, we actually rocked the joint so decided to keep playing together with a few tweaks in the line up and the addition of the extremely talented axe man Greg Turner. We played tons of gigs and festivals, Our first album "Bananafoot" sold about 750 copies. We struggled like hell and ran out of puff, same old story down here in NZ, we managed to get together in 2001 for a bit of a recording session, and the results have just been released as our second album " Drink Us Pretty"

4] Kain Machine
